Thank you all for your support! We finally got around to putting the list of books together. Please share.
HI is there are list of the titles of these books ?
This is such an inspiring and beautiful cause, made especially strong because it was created by youngsters with vision!
Our company, Tintd Teen Press, happily donated to this cause in January. Also, we would like to invite BAM to our website, tintdteen.com. There, we offer fantasy and paranormal novels, with main characters of color, for children, teens and young adults. Currently, we have a Reading Room online, where book samples can be enjoyed, and will soon have complete novels available for free download.
Please visit! I look forward to seeing more great projects from BAM!

Hello,
I would love to see the list of books that you collect where black girls are the main characters. Will you be putting the list online? Is it somewhere already that I might link to it?
Thank you,
Allison
I’ve only learnt about the campaign 1000 books for black girls now, I can’t send a hard copy of my book before February 1st. And anyway, my book is in Italian, and set in Rome. It’s about an African-Italian 9 year old girl having lots of magic adventures, among ancient Roman monuments and in her modern, multicolored neighborhood. Would you be interested in helping me find an American publisher? I’ve tried to attach the book cover, showing a beautiful little black face against the backdrop of the Coliseum, but it won’t work in this message. You can see it on my website. Would you like to learn more about the book, and how Italian children are reacting to it? Please write to me!
Amazing project! Will a complete list of the titles be shared once the 1000 books are collected?
First of all I think that this is an awesome effort and I applaud Marley for her initiative and awareness. I only want to inject a note of caution to those assisting her, that the Customs process in Jamaica is not accommodating to persons who are importing items, and those who are bringing donated goods are frequently frustrated by being charged high duties for items. Please do your checks beforehand and be aware that despite your good intentions, you will likely be charged high duties if you walk into the situation unawares. It may be that the school, or an organization like Food for the Poor, will be able to assist you with the importation if you contact them. Good luck and again, I think this is a well-needed project.
Marley, I know you will be busy as your donations come pouring in, but as a teacher, I would greatly appreciate it if you could list some of the best books you receive for this, or even some of your favorites. I want to pick books that my students will enjoy and, like you said, be able to relate to. What you’re doing is awesome!!!!!!! KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!!
WOW! What an inspirational and gifted little girl. It warms my heart to see our children do things that touches others at such a young age.
Marley so remind me of my eldest daughter when she was her age. Her name is Whitney and whenever she and her class mates went to the library to get books, Whitney would only check out and read books which featured children of color. Her actions encourage me to go out and purchase only those type books for her to read.
Thank you Marley for being a super leader. You are such a BEAUTIFUL human being.
I Love you!
I would love to have a book list of the titles you receive and recommend! Any chance you could send or post one? Thanks
Dear Marley:
Hi! I am a middle school English/Language Arts teacher in Philadelphia. I noticed the same thing with my students that you were going through! I have been looking for books where African Americans were the main character, books with good stories not just historical books about slavery and civil rights.
I LOVE what you are doing! I’m wondering if there is a list of the books that you are collecting. I would love to be able to get some for my students. Most of my students are reading below grade level so having a variety of reading levels would be wonderful!
I watched the newsclip above and saw that you had “Brown Girl Dreaming” which I have and am reading to my 7th graders!
If you do have a list of the books that you have collected (and will continue to collect) I would so appreciate you sharing it with me.
Thank you for the amazing work that you are doing! You are an impressive young woman with such talent and ambition. I’m going to share your story with my students! And hope to support you in your efforts!
I wish you nothing but the best in ALL that you do!
Sincerely,
Erika Saunders

Hello and Bravo,
Would be interested in connecting. This fall I hope to launch Kinderbooks.net, the largest children’s book site that will include over 5,000 of the best titles. Our collection will promote the very books you are advocating. I would like to support your efforts going forward. I hope you consider this invitation to assist.
Thanks,
Kai
I ordered a few books from Amazon to the West Orange address (hey! I’m in neighboring Glen Ridge!). They will arrive on 2/2. Will that be enough time for you to get them to Jamaica?
