Giraffes

Hey BAM fans! This week I am talking about Giraffes. This past summer I went to Disney World with my mom. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom they have a nice safari with many different animals. One of the many animals we saw was Giraffes. Giraffes can grow up to 19 feet in height from hooves to head. Adult Giraffes legs alone are about 6 feet tall. They can run up to speeds of 32 miles per hour. Adult male Giraffes weigh a low of 2,628 pools to as high as 4,250 in pounds. The females weigh a low of 1,825 to a high of 2,600 in pounds. They give birth standing up so the new born Giraffe drops 6 feet to the ground. The gestation period of a Giraffe is 400 to 460 days. Did you know Giraffes’ necks cannot reach the ground? So to drink they have to awkwardly open there front legs then bend over.

So BAM fans, if you go to Disney World, you should check out the cool wildlife in the Animal Kingdom Safari.
